I often get asked to explain Nonzo, and what it’s all about.
Well the first time I saw this style of photography was by my photographic hero, Bob Coulter. It was a girl, lying on a bed, and because the picture was obviously shot with a wide angle lens his feet where in the bottom of the shot. I thought it was a bit odd, but kind of cool. I also thought it was funny.  Every so often I would see other photographers do it (Jay Mawson for one), and then I came across a blog called “Dirty Story” (sadly deleted from the interweb) which had some beautiful images in that style, and that was the influence for me to start shooting that way for myself.

The name comes from a term used in pornography.  Point of View (POV) or Gonzo. Because the style is based on pornography, without actually being it, it thought , it’s not gonzo but….ahhh, Nonzo!
So I claim the right to being the inventor of Nonzo.  Originally it was a five minute thing at the end of my regular sets but it has now taken on a life of it’s own. Twice recently I have shot sets that were only this imagery!  That explians why some sets are only 3 pictures but more recent ones have more and more photos in them.   I love doing it and the girls who want to shoot it tell me they love it too.
