Ambitions for 2012

I already made a list of plans for 2012, here, but now I want to list my ambitions for 2012. Some will be a crossover but some things are definitely different.

I want need, a new camera. Everybody tells me I need to 5D mkII, and if I had the money I probably would. However my wishlist camera is the Canon 7d and I still really want the Fuji X100. So if anyone who loves my my work and wants me to keep shooting lovely ladies and has a spare couple of grand lying around–let me know!

I want to be published. Actually that’s not quite right. I want to be published and paid!  Most mags, especially the ones my stuff would suit, want free content. They don’t give away the magazine or all work for free,so why should I?  Plenty of people will happily give away images just so they can be printed (yes–I am guilty of that too), but it would be nice if these magazines actually respected the people who make the images. Just because it is a pretty girl with great boobs doesn’t mean it doesn’t have value.

I want to work with other photographers. I am very keen to do that, as I think it helps improve me as a photographer, to see how other photogs work. There are already three, that I have spoken to who are up for it-hopefully there will be more.

As well as improving (something all creatives wish for) I want to work out where I actually fit into this mad hobby/job/passion that we call picture taking. I want to create work that has the “wow” factor. I want to be able to create work that has the attitude and instant recognition as one of mine, just like the three photogs mentioned here.
My all time favorite photographer, Bob Coulter, who produces amazing looking porn with such a great look about it it that it takes it way above most porn you see. Also Jay Mawson (who is my favorite glamour/ fashion photog) and John Tisbury, who works in the erotica field. I want to be able to reach the levels they have within my field of choice and work.

I would like some respect. I would just like certain people to appreciate that I work damn hard at this. I will never be the best but I work hard and I would hope I am making pictures that are at the very least, interesting.

Finally, I would very much like to be nearer doing this as a full time job. (Hey if you can’t dream big, whats the point of dreaming?)
